Has Kate Middleton Lost her Swagger?

I know.  I can’t even believe I’m writing this, but Kate and I need to talk.  She went from wearing a sparkling tiara last week (amazing) to recycling a Roland Mouret gown in a not so princess like fashion the next week.  Take a look.

The picture on the left is Kate at the premiere of the Nelson Mandela film in London two nights ago and the picture on the right is Kate wearing the dress to a private dinner in 2012.  Let’s be real, the picture on the right, of the Duchess, is dazzling.  Kate paired the dress with a stunning pair of stilettos that go perfectly with the solid white of the dress.  Her hair curled and flowing outlines her face beautifully.

In contrast, on the left, she wore it with her hair half up, half down, with a Zara necklace, which did nothing to add to the dress or the color of her face and hair.  I really take issues with her stilettos.  Those things are just down right ugly.  Normally I am a fan of white and black together-almost always a winning and chic combination, but these heels seem to be made with fabric that doesn’t shine and really washes out her skin. Because the dress has that fabulous slit-you have to pair it with a stiletto that will compliment your skin tone-which I felt she did phenomenally well the first time around.

Overall, I think this recycled dress was a miss the second time around.  I do applaud her for re-wearing the gown but just because you re-use, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t still be fabulous.  Kate’s still my girl, though, and I will continue to admire her journey as a fashion icon.   I do wonder what Joan Rivers and the rest of the Fashion Police gang will have to say though!
