It’s a Royal Baptism for Prince George!

Thank god for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their impeccable timing on little Prince George’s baptism!  (This way all the attention can be shifted from the pedestrian news of Kim and Kanye getting engaged at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Sidebar: was Dodger stadium not available? I like to think of SF as a Kimye free zone.)  Excuse me, I digress.  As I was saying, the Duke and Duchess had a very posh and exclusive christening for their little prince today in England at the historic Chapel Royal of St. James Palace lead by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.  Prince George donned the famous christening robe worn by royals for centuries now while he was toted by his always elegant mother and father.  Kate, true to her style, wore a cream colored frock by Alexander McQueen that was fitted to the waist then billowed out to her knees.  The dress was adorned with ruffles starting at the neckline and ending at the waist; an outfit fit for a Duchess!

Aside from the Duchess’ dress and the venue details the most eyebrow raising bit of news was the announcement of the Prince’s godparents.  It is reported that Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton (uncle and aunt, respectively, to the little prince) are not godparents. Instead, the always unconventional royal couple opted for seven godparents some of which include Prince William’s first cousin Zara Tindall, William van Cutsem (a close friend of William’s), and other friends of the couple.

These are also the first pictures we’ve seen of the little prince since his birth in July and I think he takes after William!  What are your thoughts on the royal christening?  No word yet if Prince Harry was accompanied by his girlfriend Cressida Bonas-what an event to be invited to though!
