The Ultimate Guide for a Fantastic Staycation in San Francisco

Having a staycation is no easy feat…yes, the definition of a staycation is that you don’t travel anywhere and you stay in a hotel in your own city, seemingly easy, but it’s much more nuanced than that.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a staycation at Hotel G in San Francisco and what I contrast to a staycation in Los Angeles but San Francisco is a very different city! There are pluses and minuses to both!

Where to have a staycation in San Francisco?

There are plenty of hotels to chose from in San Francisco but depending on your budget and priorities you may not be sure where to stay.

From super high end luxury like the Ritz Carlton or something a little more kitchy like the Argonaut (nautical themed in Fisherman’s Wharf) or a classy modern boutique hotel in the Union Square area of SF like Hotel G – there is a hotel for a fantastic staycation for everyone!

Hotel G was the perfect setting for a staycation: located in downtown San Francisco’s Union Square area: it’s close to the best restaurants, bar, and shops!

A notable hot spot not far from the hotel is San Francisco hotspot Liholiho Yacht Club.

The views from the penthouse are incredible and the mid century decor is stylish and plush.  A perfect place to have a night in San Francisco!

The perfect staycation in San Francisco is all about enjoying the city around you!

Stay in the Penthouse

DUH! Staying in the penthouse elevates the staycation, with a private terrace, stacked bar, plush beds and a view — you really don’t need to even leave the room!

Grab your girlfriends

Going on a staycation with gal pals is always fun: you can gossip and gab about just about anything.  Although, a staycation with your significant other is also a real treat!  I say do both!

Bring wine and champagne to enjoy with the view

Wine or champagne on the terrace at the golden hour is a must.  It is a staycation however, so don’t limit yourself to drinking champs just at golden hour!

Live the bathrobe life

Anyone who says they don’t love living the bathrobe life is a liar.  Don’t trust them.  Enjoying your staycation in a bathrobe is an absolute luxury.

Have a fabulous outfit (or two or three!)

Well since I’m a fashion blogger this goes without saying but anytime you have a hotel room to get ready in and enjoy a short walk to some of the best restaurants the the city has to offer: make sure to being a great outfit!

There is it: my 5 tips for a fantastic staycation.  Now get planning!
