Spring 2016 Trend Report

With the official first day of spring almost upon us, it’s time to shed those winter blues and stuffy parkas and step into something a little more free (yes, please!). The spring fashion scene this year is full of playful prints and wearable trends that are hard to say “no” to, so for those of you who are unsure of which trends to keep an eye out for, I decided to do us all a favor and put them into one blog post.

Of course, there are many spring trends that are sure to hit the racks with great popularity, but the trends I chose below were either the most prominent on the runways, or the best ones to wear for everyday style.

‘70s Everything

We saw so much Seventies style in the fall, and the looks have officially adapted to fit in with spring fashion as well. This season, keep an eye out for suede skirts, tie-dye dresses (check Fashionista for a full rundown), and psychedelic prints that bring the fun colors every spring wardrobe needs.

Fringe

Keeping in line with the bohemian trend, fringe details are amped up this season. On Forbes, you’ll see fringe dresses from the runways that look way too fun not to twirl around in. But if a full-on fringe frock is a little too much for you, the Christian Siriano collection showed us that using your accessories for the trend is just as acceptable.

Flatforms

As far as footwear is concerned, this spring’s wearable fashion thankfully also extends down to the feet. Lyst shows us that flatforms are all the rage this spring, so if you’ve got a lot of running around to do, you might want to hop on the trend train and sneak a pair of the shoes into your ensemble. They’re sandals with just a bit of height, so you won’t feel too naked without your heels!

Choker Necklaces

If the ‘70s trend isn’t quite your style, maybe you’ll enjoy the ‘90s resurgence. Straight from the archives (think Cher Horowitz), the choker necklace has made a major comeback this season, and it’s a little more high fashion than the grunge you remember from the ‘90s. Just check out how the celebs are wearing it on People StyleWatch if you’re not sure if you can pull it off.

That’s it for this Spring 2016 Trend Report (more to come as the season progresses!)
