Add Speedy Romeo to your New York City Food Tour
I had a particularly delicious experience last week eating at Speedy Romeo’s in New York city and you should for sure add this to your food tour list for New York City!
You may know of its flagship restaurant in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill which is now one of a few hip eateries in the bustling neighborhood.
It also happens to be Ray’s coffee shop from HBO’s millennial misadventures show: Girls.
To be specific: Lena Dunham’s character: Hannah, has been known to throw a tantrum (or two), roll around naked on the booth seating, and compare herself to perfection (self-proclaimed of course!).
So if you are remembering the no lids controversy of this season then you know Ray’s!
Speedy Romeo is known for its unique pizza (however it does boast a menu filled with non-pizza items as well!).
How many locations does Speedy Romeo have?
They have two! Besides the original Clinton Hill location – they also have a Lower East Side location (a much more desirable location for the Manhattanites!).
Who owns Speedy Romeo?
The Speedy Romeo owners are Todd Feldman and Justin Bazdarich and they so kindly treated me to a divine meal and excellent ambiance.
Todd, who is not only a restaurateur but a casting agent (hence the Girls connection), visited with my friend and me and was the perfect host for the evening.
His cohort Justin Bazdarich had his chef hat and apron on and was in the kitchen most of the night firing up the pizza.
It was a truly authentic operation and an amazing dining experience.
What Should you Order at Speedy Romeo?
Speedy Romeo’s menu is not just pizza oriented but I would for sure suggest getting some kind of pizza in addition to a few other items on the menu!
A great started is the grilled artichoke with lemon aioli.
For pizza try: The Kind Brother: wild mushroom, smoked mozzarella, farm egg, sage. OR The Dangerfield: pork veal meatballs, ricotta, bechamel, garlic chips.
For dessert for witj the Olive Oil Cake with grapefruit, oranges, and ricotta.
Make sure to add Speedy Romeo to your New York City food tour!
