Camping Couture

The great outdoors mixed with a little Dolce & Gabbana number is what I like to call Camping Couture!  I know what you’re thinking: this girl doesn’t seem like a camping type and if you thought that: you’re right!  However, the Lair is a different type of camping!

Allow me to explain…

I recently embarked on my family’s annual vacation to the UC Berkeley Alumni Camp, Lair of the Golden Bear, in Pinecrest, CA to enjoy cocktail parties, softball, campfires, the adult dance, swimming, and s’mores!  Going to the Lair is a family tradition and this year I knew I had to incorporate My Stiletto Life into the experience: and what better juxtaposition than a vibrant flower printed cocktail dress,  wooden stilettos, luscious green trees, and picnic tables.

These pictures were taken in the outdoor seating area of the famous dining hall where campers and staffers alike have enjoyed meals, parties, and of course Disco Bingo.  Going back up to the Lair this summer, made me realize just how long it has been since I have visited the Lair and since I was actually a staffer (enter Nostalgia).  I think when one of the current staffers told me they weren’t due to graduate undergrad until 2015-that’s right about when I felt old (ish), I’m still in my 20’s so I won’t go too far with that comment.

So as you can see, the Lair isn’t your traditional pitch-a-tent-make-your-own-food-camping, which makes it the perfect outdoorsy vacation for me.

Anyhow, if you’ve never been to the Lair, I’m sure you know someone who has-so grab a friend and go up there with them!  It truly is a magical place that as my dad put it: “is a little oasis in the mountains.”
