T.B.D.

“Dinner at Tylor Boring’s pop up restaurant (City Grits)” The acronym T.B.D. normally stands for ‘to be determined,’ but in this case it takes new meaning with Chef Ty-Lor Boring‘s pop up restaurant at City Grits. For now, T.B.D stands for Ty-Lor Boring Dinners and perhaps the usage of T.B.D. is a pun on the part of Chef Ty-Lor himself: it’s all still T.B.D. Well perhaps in his eyes it may be, but in the eyes of his fans it certainly is not T.B.D. As I discussed with Ty-Lor on Thursday night, when he came around to greet his guest, we have somewhat of a rapport going on here, I mean this is the second time we’ve met now. Ha! I do have a relentless obsession passion for TV personalities (which I will most certainly credit my father with-man never met a celeb he did not want to chat with). I come by it honestly, just saying. I digress, so when Ty-Lor and I chatted Thursday night I exclaimed to him that the meal was amazing and it was evident he has a huge fan following (even if he doesn’t win ‘fan favorite’ which will most likely go to the hottie Chris Crary, don’t you love when Top Chef is sexual?! Does anyone remember Mike from a few season back?). Ya, I do too.

So with Ty-Lor’s Top Chef following he was able to debut at City Grits which is a self-proclaimed ‘culinary salon’ and a ‘concert hall for rocker chefs.’ By day it is an antique shop and by night a restaurant where the chefs and themes change weekly. Ty-Lor’s five-course meal was artistic and delicious. The middle courses were seafood based with two of the proteins being halibut and tilefish. A course that seemed to be a favorite was the buckwheat noodle dish. See professional photos below from photographer Kyle Froman for photos of each dish.

The food was not just wonderful but the ambiance paired with it perfectly. The dark lit room with candles and tables mixed with different parties of people certainly set a unique environment. My friend Lauren and I were sitting at a six person table with two couples. Overall, the night led to fun conversation and amazing food.

Ty-Lor Boring certainly showcased a very exciting event and I look forward to see what he does in the future (his own restaurant in NYC is in the works). So as the Bravo folks would say: “What What Happens…”

P.S. My top is Sandro I chose the blood orange color for a colorful night of food, belt: Calvin Klein, the larger gold ring on my right hand (left side when looking at pic) is from Jewel Mint, the smaller ring on my left hand (right side when looking at pic) is one I got in Israel a couple of years ago. It’s certainly a treasure.

Enjoy the pics!
