The Ultimate Travel Guide to Austin City Limits
As you saw in my last blog post, I travelled to Austin, Texas as the guest of Honda, to test drive the 2019 Honda Insight and to enjoy the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Austin is such a vibrant city: full of colorful murals and walls (perfect for the Instagram life), amazing food: from food trucks to authentic Texas BBQ: there is something for everyone.
I had been to Austin one time before so I had memories of the city, how it felt, and what it looked like.
Where to stay for Austin City Limits?
I stayed at the newly opened The Line Hotel.
It is a chic, boutique hotel with sleek and minimalist decor, an Alfred Coffee and Bravo TV’s Top Chef alum Kristen Kish as head chef of the restaurant.
There are many other places to stay but this is a very cool and trendy spot – and a great location!
The pool overlooks the river and “Bat’s Bridge” and is very uniquely designed. My only qualm with the hotel is that it was a soft open and it did not have around the clock food service — “Mama” likes access to food 24 hours a day! (Although, this is sure to change once they launch the rest of their room service menu.) I did have a fabulous breakfast sent up the last morning.
Other hotels that are great options for Austin City Limits are: Hotel ZaZa and The Kimpton near Zilker Park.
When I wasn’t lounging by the pool or driving the Honda Insight around Austin — the group was brunching at a local farm, listening to local music, eating from food trucks and attending live shows at Austin City Limits from the Honda VIP section.
Who is performing at Austin City Limits?
In 2019 – the performers were Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Travis Scott aka Stormi’s dad aka Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy.
Every year the Austin City Limits line up is different but this year – 2023 – some of the notable performers or artists are: Kendrick Lamar, Maggie Rogers, Odesza, Shania Twain and Mumford & Sons.
What outfits should I wear to Austin City Limits?
Go country with your looks! Hats, rhinestones and embellishments are great for ACL or any festival look! A bootie paired with a jean or denim skirt and a simple t-shirt is a cute and easy look.
Or go for fringe vests, jean shorts, and paisley crop tops!
Overall Austin, was a blast and being there as a guest of Honda was so ideal. Take a look at some of the places we hung out in Austin and what I wore in the lone star state!
As they say: “everything’s bigger in Texas!”
