The Ultimate Guide to SF’s New Hot Spot Left Door
Welcome to San Francisco’s new hot spot: Left Door!
This is not your average cocktail lounge: this is a cool clandestine cocktail lounge!
Inconspicuously, tucked away above a rowdy and notoriously known neighborhood sports bar: Bus Stop on San Francisco’s Union Street lies a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered โ Left Door. A high end cocktail lounge that is serving caviar, champagne and the best espresso martini in San Francisco.
As the name suggests – the adventure begins behind a left door, that has no name on it except that is it a part of the Bus Stop Building.
Upon entry, you climb the stairs to a mysteriously lush setting of velvet chairs, couches all ensconced in their own parts of the lounge: some in a corner window – others along a wall with booths. There is also a gorgeous bar if you prefer sitting there and enjoying a cocktail solo or with a date.
A reservation is a must and this lounge is perfect for a date night, girls’ night or a drink by solo at the bar. It does seem to make more sense for small groups with tables going up to about 6 people.
New hot spot: Left Door delivers on ambiance: from the dimly lit interior to the bartenders dressed in dapper attire, every detail adds to the allure and mystique of the venue.
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind night out in San Francisco, Left Door is the place to be.
Step through the “hidden” door and unlock the secrets of this new gem, where an evening of cocktails and caviar some alive and unforgettable memories are made.
What to Order at the Left Door
The carefully crafted cocktail menu showcases a fusion of traditional favorites and innovative creations, all made with the finest ingredients and the utmost attention to detail.
There are a couple of caviar options: either the caviar service – pictured below: served with blinis, onion crรจme fraรฎche, egg yolk emulsion and potato chips or caviar bumps – which are consumed by eating them off your hand.
I highly recommend indulging in the caviar service: it’s decadent and very well appointed.
There are also different kinds of toasts with specialty meats and truffle and one with anchovies. Aside from that there are hearty options like sliders and fries, lobster crudo, and a ribeye for two!
All the bites pack in the flavor and so you really can’t go wrong!
For dessert try their elevated “choco taco”!
Where is the Left Door located?
If you don’t know the area super well – finding the entrance to the bar can be confusing.
If you’re facing the Bus Stop bar on the Union Street side – it’s to the left of the bar up a few stairs and it’s the left door (number 1905 – see image below).
There is a buzzer – ring the bell and the door will open for you. There isn’t a sign – so just know that.
Is there a Dress Code at Left Door?
It’s an upscale vibe and feel but you can wear jeans but I would advise against flip flops or sneakers. I would say casual but smart and chic attire.
Think date night dresses, high waisted pants and a bodysuit or a little black dress!
For men: a buttoned up long sleeve shirt, dress pants and fancy sneakers or loafers.
