Instagram + Food = #Instafood
The highly popular hashtag: Instafood has made food pictures on Instagram wildly popular and it’s hard not to salivate when scrolling through the hashtag. I love trying new food and I love (even more) getting a great picture of the food for my Instagram. So here are some of My Stiletto Life’s additions to the #Instafood hashtag:
Instafood: Coffee and Chocolate
This little chocolate shop on 36th street and Madison Avenue is the perfect place to get a quick espresso shot and some chocolates. It’s a lovely place, in that not only does it have chocolate and coffee, but it’s quite spacious and is a nice hideaway from the busy streets of NYC.
Dallas BBQ makes for the ultimate #instafood photo. How mouth watering is this photo?
Hawaii #instafood — fish tacos at Paia Fish Market in Waikiki.
Instafood: Book Club Style
Saying that I signed up for book club for the brunch aspect would be an understatement: brunch was sort of the only reason I signed up! Fresh scones, polenta and eggs, a charcuterie platter of cheese and cured meats and mimosas made book club all the more appealing. Guilty as charged: I didn’t finish the book but I am looking forward to finishing My Brilliant Friend since it takes place in Italy and I’ll be traveling there this summer!
Instafood: Dumplings
Remember when cupcakes were a big deal in 2007? Well, dumplings are having their cupcake moment in more recent years. The above are soup dumplings — which means they contain soup inside the dumpling casing, which is different than a potsticker dumpling (however both are delicious). These are from a popular spot in Manhattan’s theatre district: Kung Fu Little Steam Buns Ramen (that’s a mouthful!). Stop into this spot before or after your Broadway show!
Instafood: Time Out New York #Doughfest
Time Out New York Magazine held a #Doughfest where you went around trying doughnuts from different vendors and sipping on beer and Baileys. #Doughfest was in the club, in the middle of the day…this was strange. Just purely strange. I imagined this event being in a shabby chic indoor or outdoor environment (depending on the weather), basically very Top Chef like. This was not the case. There was a DJ, there were drag queens, there was dancing. Once you got used to the idea that the event was in the club, if made me wonder if Time Out thought this one out (it’s a pun!) because the purple dark lighting was not conducive to sharing Instafood pics. Which means less press for the event and the vendors. So even though the donuts were tasty and the Baileys was sweet: my Instafood pics sadly suffered. What’s up with that Time Out?
Instafood: Coffee Meets Bagel
Black Seed Bagels has laid its roots in the East Village and these Montreal like bagels are luring in flocks of people. I went for the Big Kahuna: bacon, egg and cheese. It was Sunday and I need no excuses. I liked the bagels and the decor of the bagel shop but I have to be honest, the Montreal style bagel is not my favorite. It’s worth a try though for sure!
