Do I love a summer trend or what?!  You may recall that jean shorts were a highlighted trend in my post: “Summer Trends” and I have put together this look to incorporate the trend into my style.  I had a vision for this look: casual meets fancy.  I wanted to wear a very laid back loose-fitting top with a fitted pair of jean shorts and dress it up with stilettos.  Mixing and matching a casual piece with a dressed up piece, has always been a favorite styling trick of mine.  J. Crew seemed to be the obvious choice to find the perfect casual button up (of course they did not fail me) and American Eagle Outfitters was the perfect place to find jean shorts.  Truth be told, I had not shopped at American Eagle for a long, long time.  (I have memories of my 13 year old self wearing AEO and for the most part, I had left that memory untouched.)  However, it came to my attention, that they had some great fitting jeans at an even better price point!  So I figured, why not revisit my childhood?  I’m happy I did because I was able to create this playful look.  I also made this look even cooler with my new Ray-Ban sunglasses.  The ‘clubmaster‘ style is new to me, but I am really enjoying the old-school frame with the reflective optics.

Wearing a loose-fitting button up, like the one in this post, allows for some great necklace layering, which will be huge in the fall (layering and fall are a thing).  I actually made all the necklaces I am wearing and it has been fun to mix and match my pieces with others.  Necklace layering is a great way to add dimension to your look and style–I strongly suggest trying it yourself.
