Holiday Nail Art

‘Tis the season for sequins, champagne, sparkly stilettos and of course nail art!  The holiday season is a great time to experiment with some nail art and add in all the shimmer you want!  I have been wanting to try this reverse french manicure for quite some time and figured Xmas parties would be the perfect time!

See my tutorial below on holiday nail art and then try the look at home!

1.  I chose a winter white and some gold sparkle to get a clean look and really show the contrast of the colors.  The white is “Fantom” by LVX and the gold is “Stun” by Floss Gloss.  The crisp white really helps the gold stand out-it’s the perfect party combination! (LVX and Floss Gloss are brands that are featured in Poshly Polished’s quarterly nail polish subscription service; sign up to be a subscriber and this gorgeous white or gold might just show up in your next collection! 2. Apply a thin base coat.  I am using OPI’s ‘Natural Nail Base Coat.’

3. Take your base color and paint your nails as you normally would-two coats are recommended.  Allow a few minutes to dry in between painting coats and let sit for a couple minutes before moving to the next step.

4-5.  Use a thin manicure stick to apply the polish to the tip of the nail.  Dip the stick into the color you’re using for the nail tip and gently start to dab the color onto the nail-defining the parameters of where the polish will go.  Rotate your fingers as you go along as that keeps the process easy and efficient. Once you’ve done that, you can add a little extra polish and touch up with the nail polish brush itself.

6.  Let the nails dry a couple minutes and add a fast drying top coat.  This will smooth out the polish and add that extra shine and polished look!  I use Seche Vite’s top coat. It’s worth getting a nicer top coat because this will determine the longevity of the manicure.

7.  Voilà, you’re all ready for a holiday party or New Year’s Eve!
