Is Smash really a Smash?!

So because I am so popular, I mean fortunate, ha, I was able to attend NBC’s premiere party for ‘Smash.’ What an absolutely elegant night of music, fashion, and fun. NBC really brought in some major players. See exhibit a below.

Besides SJP and her hubby Matthew Broderick (well-known in the musical theater world himself), The Met also provided coverage from the rain that night to the stars of Smash and others: Katharine Mcphee, Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Lauren Hutton, Uma Thurman, Nathan Lane (he’s so short), Fran Lebowitz, and Sally Field. On the lesser celeb scale we had social climber Kelly Bensimon, Lance Bance, and Aaaron Carter (ugh, was that for real)?

After watching the hour or so premiere of ‘Smash’ which is an adult version of Glee (with not as much spunk, in my opinion) all the guest were led into The Met’s famous Temple of Dendur which was truly a treat as this room is one of the most famous places in NYC (anyone remember Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal having a precious moment there in ‘When Harry Met Sally?’)

Besides have a few open bars spread around the room, there were three buffet tables filled with elaborate entrees from slice roast beef to lobster on the half shell. Since I know my reality TV so well, I recognized the Top Chef contestant Tylor Boring whose restaurant catered the event. Despite taking issue with his faux Scandinavian accents in his name which I have chosen to exclude here, ha) he was a fun guy to chat with and even allowed me to come behind the buffet to take a picture with him:

It was a whirlwind of a night and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present (this was the day after my 27th bday)! The glamour, the food, the drinks, and the company were unparalleled and an inevitable Smash!
