The summer solstice is upon us and I’m feeling the heat. 

Los Angeles has been in full on summer mode for a few weeks now (unbearably hot during the day and we’re hanging on by a thread with our little window units) but summer didn’t officially start until today (June 21st) and the summer solstice. 

Summer has always been a special time of the year — memories of school-less months, summer camp and family vacations (two years ago I went to Italy and last summer I was in Spain and Cabo!) always provide nostalgia and of course the idea of “fun in the sun.”

A great day trip from Los Angeles is just down the coast in Dana Point — I went swimming and then we hung out and then we dined al fresco in Laguna beach.  (I swear I had a touch of sun stroke the next day from all the sun exposure! I’m a lightweight when it comes to the sun.) 

In any case, I celebrated a little ahead of the summer solstice but even if you haven’t started celebrating summer, it’s ok because summer has truly just begun!
