Wow — it is hot in NYC and lately and I’m staying cool in summer dresses!

Luckily, I have been able to wear all my perfectly lightweight summer dresses to minimize the temps!  

Banana Republic just came out with this blue pleated pocket dress that I’m wearing in the photos below and it’s the perfect summer dress for several occasions.  I have been opting to wear it to work mostly.  It can be tough to find a dress that is work appropriate (and you know you’ve seen some dubious work outfits) and one that is still cooling in the summer. I initially was drawn to its rich blue color but I also enjoy its loose fit and length: making it easy for all the day to day activities.

In general I would say that Banana Republic has really great summer dresses and work dress options.  Remember this maroon piece I wore a few months ago — well I have also been keeping it in my work rotation.  Both are flattering (and appropriate) dresses with a great color.

Not only is Banana Republic making a statement with its summer dresses but the accessories are making a splash we well.  

The large ikat zip pouch aka clutch I’m sporting below (sold out but similar one here) is such a fun summer piece and it’s on sale! It’s the perfect item to spice up any look (especially against a solid color).  I don’t wear a lot of bangles but I really love the subtle sand color of the glow resin bangle and its smooth texture (also on sale!).  It’s a great way to top off your outfit.  Both accessories will really vamp up any summer look.
