Goodbye to All That: New York City
A few years ago, I picked up a book called Goodbye to All That,ย a collection of vignettes where several authors write stories about their love affairs with New York City and the inevitable reasons they finally left the city.ย As you may have guessed, this post is my ode to New York City and an introduction into the next chapter of my life.
I’ve said good bye to NYC, twice now, so it’s safe to say that if NYC and I were in a relationship on Facebook it would say:ย it’s complicated.ย ย NYC isย an undoubtedly alluring city: its energy is a force to be reckoned with all on its own.ย Carrie Bradshaw used to say New York City was her dateย and I must attest it has been my date many times during my NYC tenure.
Even after the best dates with this city there was always one thing lacking: I hadn’t met someone to share the ups and downs with or the energy of the city. I suppose NYC could only be my “date” for so long, even Carrie eventually found her Mr. Big.ย Well, I found my Mr. Big so to speak — you may have read my blog post about my trip to Cabo San Lucas — well one detail I happened to leave out (wink, wink), was that I met someone on that trip and it has flourished and continued since then into a long distance relationship and now we’ve decided to take it to the next level and live in the same city!ย So it is with much excitement that I share with the My Stiletto Life community that I am moving to Los Angeles to start something very special.
The last week or so I have been stopping into my local coffee shops and casually telling them I’m moving to Los Angeles:ย and they are always a little giggly and taken aback by my boldness to tell them itโs for romantic reasons.ย It’s corny and cute and very exciting.
If NYC was my date, Los Angeles can be the third wheel because I finally get to explore an amazing city with my plus one.
Catch me in La La Land!
