A Visit to the Meritage Ice Skating Rink is the Perfect Family Activity
Once fall in Napa has ended: winter quickly descends upon us but with all its holiday cheer and the Meritage ice skating rink!
From lights, trees, large Thanksgiving meals, and cozy wine tasting: there is still so much to do in Napa in the winter.
Every other year, my family and I stay at the Meritage Reserve (formally known as Vista Collina) and indulge in all that Napa Valley has to offer.
The Meritage has two properties one being “The Meritage” and the other now called “The Meritage Reserve” (previously Vista Collina) – which is right across the street – they are sister properties.
I prefer the Meritage Reserve because the rooms are bigger, it has a huge lawn area that is perfect for use any time of the year, a gourmet market, and wine tasting rooms on site.
There is also a huge pool and a hot tub (that is heated in the winter).
The Meritage Ice Skating Rink
A new seasonal activity the Meritage has added to its list is an ice skating rink.
It first popped up in 2021 and it is such a great activity for people of all ages!
I hadn’t ice skated in years and I got out there and once I got into a groove: I did not want to get off the ice! It’s such a fun, refreshing, and endorphin inducing activity!
The rink isn’t too large either so if you are nervous – you can easily get around the rink quickly or hold on to the side!
I highly recommend checking out the Meritage ice skating rink and you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to skate!
The tickets are sold at the rink separately from the hotel.
What is the ice skating rink schedule?
The rink opens November 11th and is open through the first week of January.
For a super special event: Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi will be performing there on November 18th. Kristi is my all time favorite Olympic figure skater – and she is a Bay Area native: this is a great event to attend!
When is the best time to go to the Ice skating rink:
I would go early or later in the day. Midday seemed to get really packed and it’s hard to skate with so many people.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary and if you are a Napa resident you get $5 off on Monday and there are also special prices for veterans. Check with the Meritage itself for accurate pricing for the 2023-2024 season.
Can you rent skates?
Yes. Skates are available to rent on site.
Overall this is such an amazing activity and will really get you excited for the holiday season!
