Barefoot Connecticut

To finish up my East Coast trip I packed my bags and hopped on a train to Weston, CT.  Nothing feels more East Coast than the Connecticut countryside.  For this visit, I ditched my stilettos for some barefoot fun in the luscious greens.  My friends, Tracy and Chris Friden, live in the quintessential Connecticut countryside and were nice enough to let me use their gorgeous house as a background for this post (and host a BBQ after, hence the Sangria). When I decided I wanted to center the post around the beautiful greens and roomy outdoors of Connecticut, I knew my chiffon Haute Hippie dress paired with this stunning headpiece, (named Gold Coin Crystal) by Hettie Silovitz would be the perfect combination.  I also added the ring for some hand candy!  I love rings…

Have Stilettos Will Travel Part 2

This is the second half of my NYC West Village/Meatpacking post.  My awesome photographer and friend Sharon and I stumbled upon this bright blue door in the Meatpacking and knew it would be the perfect backdrop for a few poses and later we found the perfect cobblestoned street with the sun just at the right height. Have Stilettos Will Travel is a post I dedicated to styling an outfit two ways and for part 2 I went from flouncy skirt to shorts (which are a summer trend I am loving) and it's not just shorts it's printed shorts!  I love the way shorts create a playful summer outfit.  This pair I also snagged at Barney's Co-op, is a chic floral print paired with my white top from part 1: the simplicity of the top…

Have Stilettos Will Travel Part 1

She's baaaaaaaaaack!  I just concluded my trip on the east coast (DC, NYC, and CT) and it was splendid!  I just moved back from NYC this past October and being back this quickly was such a treat.  Here are a few highlights of my trip plus some of the things that I missed about NY: 1. Iced coffee (it just taste better there!). 2. Sample sales 3. Barney's NY, Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel. (It's normal to go to Bergdorf and Bendels twice in five days right?) 4. Meeting new people out and about. 5. Seeing celebrities (albeit some may be C list) 6. Taxi TV.  Ok, so most people turn down the volume when they get into their cab, but I actually see Taxi TV as one of the best attributes of cabs…

Glowing in Gold

This week's post is an ethereal meets Moroccan desert theme.  When bringing this piece together I imagined myself gracefully walking through the desert adorned with jewels and what else I might be wearing and quickly my accoutrements came to me. The dress (being the center piece of the outfit) was the basis for the color story of this post: gold (almost a mustard gold, even).  With a dress that is a bold solid color you have more opportunity to adorn it with accessories, unlike a dress with a pattern or mixed colors.  So I knew I had the perfect pair of strappy stilettos: Marc Jacobs in gold snake skin, to match this dress.  I found these treasures a couple of years ago in a consignment store in NYC!  What a find!  I also knew my…

“I got it from my Mama:” Mother’s Day 2013

That Will.i.am is quite the clever one isn't he? To quote the wise lyrics from the 2007 Will.i.am song: "I got it from my Mama," this post is dedicated to my 'mama.' (Actually watching this video on a Tuesday morning is pretty great.) This past Sunday (Mother's Day 2013), my mom, Dad, and I got dressed in our Sunday's best for some traditional Dim Sum. (A treat the three of us enjoy very much; although I am still perturbed they were out of steamed pork buns.) Anyhow, my outfit is a mix of old and new all in whites and creams to keep things in the spirit of Spring.  My cardigan is a Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and the dress is by Theory.  The necklace is a gift my mother game me recently, and of…
